You hear so many horror stories of Facebook accounts being hacked by notorious low life’s around the globe these days, and for the majority of us avid and respectable users, you can’t help but think “what if I’m next in line?”.
Those of us using Facebook for business purposes and who have a large number of following, these two tips shouldn’t go a miss, so in this short tutorial I’d like to show you how simple it is to secure your Facebook account from the big bad wolves.
Facebook Secure HTTPS login
1. Get a Big Bad Password!
If your current password is way too easy to remember like 4 or 5 digits long, then the first and foremost thing to do is change it to a longer more secure one. My current password without revealing too much has over 20 characters consisting of all sorts. You don’t have to be that drastic about it but create one that’s at least 8 or more characters long.
2. Set the Big Bad HTTPS Secure Login!
Facebook now enables you to set your login page to a HTTPS secure login. To enable this follow these four simple steps:
Step One
Log into your Facebook account as you would normally.
Step Two
In the right hand top corner, click on the account tab to reveal the drop down menu; and then click on account settings.
Step Three
In the account settings page you will see a link, third of the way down called account security conveniently, click on this link.
Step Four
Tick the box titled ‘Secure Browsing HTTPS’ and hit save. You can also choose to be notified by email when a device logs into your Facebook page which should be no other than yourself. On this page you can also conveniently browse through your recent login activity which includes day and time, location and device type.
That’s it all done, next time you access the login page it will be secure one with a stronger password to go with it, enjoy.
